Marpoint, a leading System Integrator and Satellite communication company operating mainly in the Maritime Industry, is looking for a self-motivated and highly professional individual to fulfill the position of Field Network & IT Engineer
Examples of work you might undertake
- Design the onboard network and execute the deployment
- Install and configure network devices such as routers, switches, wireless access points
- Install and configure IT equipment such as servers, thin clients, NAS, UPS devices
- Ensure proper installation of cabling and network infrastructure on ships
- Install a rack with network and IT equipment
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve network and IT issues on site and remotely
- Monitor network performance and make adjustments if needed
- Train the on board crew to use Marpoint’s systems
- Document procedures
Responsibilities
- Set up network hardware and software
- Set up IT equipment and software
- Ensure proper cabling and physical network setup
- Provide technical support to clients and end-users
- Train the on board crew to use Marpoint’s systems
- Document network configurations, changes, and maintenance activities
- Report bugs and problems
What we are looking for
- Good understanding of OSI layer, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.
- Experience with network and IT hardware
- Good knowledge of English oral and written
- Basic Linux systems understanding (any flavor), the candidate should be able to operate and configure Linux systems via terminal
- Basic Mikrotik (RouterOS) knowledge
- Basic Windows Server family knowledge
- Problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Adaptability and willingness to travel
Good to have
- University degree or relative Bachelor
- Experience with network and IT equipment installation on commercials vessels
- Experience with Mikrotik (RouterOS) would be beneficial
